Statement

My inspiration is based on the Legends of Africa that reflects a wide-ranging series of kings, queens, chiefs and other leaders from across the African continent including Mali, Benin, Ghana, Nigeria, Congo, Ethiopia, Eritrea and South Africa. African mythologies include supernatural beings who influence human life. Some of these beings are powerful deities. Others are lesser spirits, such as the spirits of ancestors. My aproach is building upon the comic book backgroung I had growing up. I trancend this experience from my sketchbook and drawing papper to large canvas. I hope my works will beam spotlight on African Myths and elevate the medium of comic book as it relates to contemporary art.
